Two Way Street - By Tessa and Frank ('Ole Blue Eyes) Hi, my name is Frank and this is my story. Down and out, sleeping under cars, covered in engine oil, surviving day-to-day on my wits alone. That was my life until one day when something happened down the road from where I used to hang out. Someone let out a load of cats from a local cattery. Can you believe it! Well thanks to lots of lovely people, including my friends at Cats Protection, after much searching all but one of the cats were found. One white cat remained missing and the search continued. This was when Joanne from Cats Protection picked me up. Scared and confused I was scanned but, of course, I wasn’t the cat they were looking for so I got to stay with that strange cat lady, Heather. Well for all her good intentions I hated my pen and felt very depressed and fed up. But Heather was very good to me, feeding me chicken which is my favourite food. I liked Heather very much and let her stroke me. Cats Protection sorted out my dental and I was tested as standard for various diseases – sadly, I tested positive for Feline Aids (FIV) but as a street cat fighting to survive, this can happen from time to time and unfortunately it happened to me. Well, I stayed with Heather and lots of people came to see the other cats and one young couple came to see me but they were not quite the right people to take care of me. You may be surprised to know that I’m easy to look after even with my condition - with the right TLC, I should live a long and healthy life.
One dreary Monday morning someone came to see Heather and me - her name was Tessa. She looked at me through the door of my pen and I decided she was the one for me and I winked at her. She was in love with my charm and big blue eyes and my FIV didn’t faze her in the least. This was the day I saved her life. The week before Tessa came to see me she was very low and even her wonderful husband couldn’t do anything for her, but for whatever reason, Tessa looked at the Woking District Cats Protection website and saw my photo and through that I worked my magic on her. Later that evening Tessa came back with her husband Stuart and he came in to my pen to see me - I looked up at him all wide eyed, and that was that. The following Thursday I moved in - I had my very own room with plenty of places to hide where I could feel safe. After being in my room for a while I wanted to explore but when Stuart and Tessa opened my bedroom door, I was overwhelmed and stayed in my room with the door open for the next two days. On the third day of my door being open, I went for an exploration and in the morning I decided I liked my new family and I let them stroke me - I haven’t looked back since. I’ve been getting more confident with each day and I’m a big softy and love the company of my new family. And all they need to do is keep me indoors as an only cat, keep an eye on my health and I should live a normal and long life. Auntie Heather supports Tessa and Stuart to give them confidence and the reassurance they need till I’m settled.
You will be pleased to know the remaining white cat was found, scanned by Cats Protection and returned to a grateful owner.
If you want a cat and love them, give a cat a home from Cats Protection! THEY NEED YOU! And you may find you need them too!
